In case you missed it, Taylor Swift's boyfriend is headed to the Superbowl. After a whole season sitting fieldside watching Travis Kelce lead the Chiefs to win after win, the hard work paid off as the Kansas City team won the AFC championship, confirming their spot in the football event of the year.
Swift celebrated with warm-toned pink nails covered in layers of silver sparkles.
Swift's nails were short and square-shaped, extending no more than a few centimeters from her fingertips with sharp, flat edges. Each of her nails matched with the same color and finish. They were a pinky-peach hue super-similar to the color of rosé wine. The addition of the glitter made the mani more reminiscent of a bubbly wine, and was the perfect way to toast Kelce's accomplishments. Taylor wore a sparkly pink nail polish on her nail, a color similar to hers is OPI's Pixie Dust. This color is perfect on its own.
The fact that her nails are square, however, is cause for more intrigue than the color. Though a short square nail has never been out of style, they have perhaps never been more in than they are now—or at least since the early 2000s when they reigned supreme. Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, and Olivia Rodrigo have all worn the style in their own ways after longer almond and stiletto nails had been dominating for the past few years.
"Longer, dramatic nails have been the trend for a few years now, so shorter, more utilitarian lengths feel edgier. While I don't think long nails are suddenly on their way out—quite the contrary—I do think that a bit more length variety is on its way in." Rita Remark, NY-based manicurist & essie Global Lead Educator, previously told us.
The utilitarian nature also makes them easy to achieve and maintain, "Shorter nails are easier to maintain and easier to wear," Remark says. "You don't need a manicurist to achieve the look, and everyday tasks are much easier to accomplish."
